Intro to Arm Balances with Heidi
Sunday, July 14 @ 2:00 – 3:30 PM
Heidi Fichtner Murphy will be at the studio in July offering this workshop. Ever wanted to try your hand at arm balancing? Now’s your chance!
Arm balances are an empowering yet playful aspect of Yoga. They can improve your focus, build strength, and add an energizing spirit to your practice. But they can also be very scary and intimidating! Let’s be honest, none of us want to fall on our face in front of a full class! However, many arm balances are surprisingly achievable once you have the tools (and tricks!), props, and confidence needed to help you on your way.
In this workshop we will begin with a warm up flow that will move through the basic physical concepts surrounding arm balances. We will then breakdown the following poses: Crow, Side Crow, Fallen Angel/Eka Pada Koundinyasana, and Eight Angle Pose. Within each pose we will discuss proper warms ups, alignment, bandhas, wrist safety, and usage of props to both build strength and make the floor not seem so far away. We will safely build to the balance, step by step, allowing you to develop the confidence and assurance you need to fly!
It is helpful to have yoga experience for this workshop, but no arm balance experience is necessary. This workshop is not recommended in pregnancy.
Space: Limited to 8!
